London files Review: Neither from London nor from files, ‘London files’ has nothing to do with anyone

There was a lot of buzz in the media regarding the OTT release of London Files. It is possible that a film similar to this name has become very popular now. Or it could also be that this was Arjun Rampal’s OTT debut. However, whatever may be the reason, this web series whose 6 episodes of 32 to 35 minutes length have been released on the OTT platform Voot, fully ripens after a great start. For Arjun Rampal, his OTT debut will prove to be weak because despite his good acting, the story of this web series is so ludicrous that even the director has not been able to do anything special. The side effect of watching this web series can be headache. There is no desire to believe anything in the story and the viewer grabs his head while watching the strange plot. Better avoid opening the London files

Arjun Rampal is a police officer whose son shoots and kills his classmates on his 14th birthday. On the other hand, Purab Kohli’s daughter goes missing and the circumstances become such that the suspicion of her murder falls on Purab and he gets jailed. Arjun investigates further and learns that there is a cult whose objective is to spread chaos in London on the pretext of protesting the draconian anti-immigration law. Purab Kohli’s daughter is alive and has joined the cult. Arjun Rampal somehow reaches this cult and himself joins it. During this time a group of cults have taken over a large building, taking people hostage and threatening to blow up the building if the demand to withdraw the anti-immigration law is not met. Arjun manages the situation after reaching Rampal, everyone surrenders and the story ends.

It’s a weird script. Its only relation with London is that the story is set in London. Could have been settled in some other country. Files have been mentioned but the files are nothing but papers of anti-immigration law and they also come in the form of appearances. Gopal Dutt and Prateek Payodhi have jointly written this series. Gopal is better as an actor than as a writer because by ending a simple story in a twisted and intriguing way, it proves that there was no directed stream before writing and just by writing, the story became. Arjun Rampal is a stern father and his son is being crushed under the burden of his ambitions, this thing comes so late that by then his usefulness has ended. Purab Kohli’s character is confused. He sometimes spends the night in hotels while he has a house in the city. He is a little grumpy from the beginning and keeps showing airs like the editor of a news channel. In such a situation, it is necessary for him to have an extramarital affair. The misfortune is such that even his daughter considers him a criminal but in reality there is nothing like that. It is not necessary to give any logic why he stays in the hotel. Why and how the underground cult is born, no story has been explained behind it. The character of Gopal Dutt is also strange.

Arjun Rampal has acted well but his character is suffering from his own grief due to which his way of working is not understood. He gets the proofs very easily and reaches the conclusion without any effort. An attempt has been made to make the scene of his joining the underground cult like a psychological film in which Arjun’s acting flourishes, but after that the story deteriorates completely. Instead of anti-immigration law, all the focus is put on the cult. Purab Kohli’s work is also good and that of new actress Medha Rana too, but the completion of their characters is very strange, so I don’t feel like trusting them. The rest of the cast has not made any special impact and hence there is no balance in the web series. Sapna Pabi’s role ends in one episode only. Sneha Khanwalkar’s music is also incoherent and doesn’t help the story. There is a lot of scope in the editing of Parikshit Jha (Tabber, De Coupled) as there is no major impact on the entire web series due to some scenes being thriller. The same situation is also with the work of cinematographer Arun Kumar Pandey (Patal Lok). No attempt has been made to film London. it is also possible that budget Due to being short, the atmosphere of London has been created by showing many cheat shots.

To say, The London Files could have been shown as a crime thriller or a psychological thriller, but it fails in both these cases and is presented as a confused web series. Arjun Rampal alone could not save this web series. You save your time because it is not necessary that every file should be a good file.
